Can I use my HSA or FSA card at SLRC?

While most Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) cards will not recognize SLRC as an eligible healthcare-related merchant, we are happy to try to process your purchase of qualifying products using your HSA or FSA card.

How do I get reimbursed for HSA/FSA eligible products at SLRC?

If your HSA or FSA card does not recognize SLRC as an eligible healthcare-related merchant, you can pay out of pocket for qualifying products at SLRC and we will provide an itemized receipt that you can use for reimbursement by your HSA or FSA administrator. Follow these steps:
  1. Confirm the product is:
    • HSA/FSA eligible.
    • Used for medical care under IRS guidelines and not used for general fitness or to enhance performance.
  2. Get any required medical documents. Various HSA/FSA eligible products, including footwear and some gear, require a Letter of Medical Necessity to verify that the expense is needed for medical care under IRS guidelines.
  3. Consult your HSA or FSA administrator, who has final authority on reimbursement, to confirm eligibility and requirements.
  4. Pay out of pocket with your debit/credit card or cash.
  5. Save the SLRC itemized receipt as proof of purchase.
  6. Submit a reimbursement request with any necessary documentation to your HSA or FSA administrator, who has final authority on reimbursement.

What is a Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN)?

A Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) is a document from a licensed healthcare provider justifying that a specific product, service, or treatment is essential to treat, prevent, or relieve pain from a medical condition. It is required for reimbursement for various HSA/FSA eligible products, including footwear and some gear, to verify that the expense is needed for medical care under IRS guidelines.
